Study Skills

In deference to the needs of middle and high school children and their teacher community, we at Drishti have developed this workshop series on Study Skills.

Established techniques, such as SQ3R, Mnemonics-Visualization-Association, preparing Planners and Organizers, etc., will be taught in order to enhance their skills. Home work assignments will be a part of this workshop. Students of this workshop should exhibit improved academic performance levels in the medium and long term. Active, senior class teacher participation is a must for the successful implementation of this
workshop.

The details of this workshop are as under:

Battery of Skills covered:

  • Reading and preparing notes from Text books
  • Taking notes during class
  • Efficient use of reference books
  • Memory – remembering information
  • Taking tests
  • Time management
Target Population: Std. 7th - 9th

Population size: 40-60 students.

Style: Demonstration of each technique followed by worksheet sessions.
Home assignments for practice of each technique.

Number of sessions: 5/6 sessions of 1 hr duration each. Plus 3 tracking
meetings.

Worksheets and Handouts: Can be provided

Requirements from host school: Active participation of 1 senior class
teacher. Projection screen and OHP as and when required.
